It all started over a Sunday lunch at Chili's. My brother - a genius at all things computers - was talking about his business he's getting off the ground (if you are looking around for an amazing graphic designer, coder, Jack-of-all-trades, he's amazing - check him out over at his website!) Although I can't code to save my life, I asked him to hire me. I of course confessed graphic design wasn't my forte, but I could pull off interior design! The two of course have little to do with each other in his business, but he and my lovely sister-in-law were soon asking me to help them with their basement. They'd been in their house for three years now and hadn't done a single thing to the space. Umm.. heck yes I would! My payment came in the form of Dunkin Donuts iced lattes -- and I was perfectly content with that! :)
My brother gave us our budget and Jen and I hit the stores. We went everywhere. Quite frankly it was exhausting!! But I was only in town for a few more days and I was determined to leave them with a lovely living area. We had a blast though... We averaged about 8 stores a day (some repeats of course) and managed to pull it off. My disclaimer to you is that these pictures kind of suck... I had 5 minutes to run through the room and snap as many as I could before the hubby and I left for VA. So, needless to say, Jen and I did a much cozier job than the photos convey! But alas, they shall do! (Oh, and picture nothing on the walls or anything anywhere for that matter... I forgot to take before photos!)
Above was my favorite part of the room. I loved the table (Huck Finns!) and the colors look so pretty together!
A holla to TJMaxx and Target on the above items!
Not 100% done on the pillow front, but looking good!
A hassle to hang (Jen, you rocked!) but it sure paid off! Gotta love the Evan shrine! :) A few more pictures and it'll be complete! And when Evan is old enough to not grab everything off the shelves.. some cute decor.
Framed fabric - makes an amazing color pop
Over in the TV hangout area... Two candle holder things (what on earth are these things called??) frame the window and the picture is over the TV. Gives the area a great pulled-together look!
It was an absolute blast to put together. Major girl bonding time! Next stop: the kitchen! ;) (Can't wait!) Oh, and we stayed pretty on budget! Gotta love a good sale.

Sconces... I think that's the word you're looking for!
That's it! Sconces. Thank you! What would I do without you, Meg! :)
