Perhaps we were a little eager to kick start our fall season here in Virginia... Okay, perhaps I was a little eager. But the cloud covering was so promising that I thought we could go apple picking and have it feel a little like fall! Although we had a good time, I was very wrong about that fall feeling! As we walked through the tall grasses of beautiful Gross Apple Orchard, we sweltered away. The much-anticipated moment of picking from a bountiful branch and biting into a crisp apple should have been delightful. Instead, the apple felt like it was left in a hot car all afternoon.
Ah well. Such is life in the southern states!
Despite the heat, it was a beautiful - and much enjoyed - escape to the country side!
And after a day in the fridge, the apples are quite a delight! :)
