Thanksgiving 2010

Since I was a kid, I have always gone through the year and made a list of all the things I was thankful for. Of course, back in the day the lists often had mildly amusing items, such as honey roasted peanuts for instance or NSync... (Yes, I admit to liking the wildly popular boy band of the '90s. At least it wasn't the Backstreet Boys - my only response to the jeers and laughter.)

2010 is no exception. Only this time, my list is in blog form. In no order, only clockwise, I share with you the 10 things from 2010 that mean the most:

1. I am so thankful for my amazing husband. He is the best thing to ever happen to me and I love him with all my heart! He was most definitely worth the wait and I would do it all over again without a second thought. He is the butter to my bread!

2. I am thankful to be where we are today. It has been a long road with many bumps along the way, and to be here in the beautiful state of Virginia is just an incredible answer to prayer.

3. I love our little Miss Scarlett and her bratty self. I'm thankful for the joy she brings us each day! (I'll leave out the amounts of frustration she adds too...)

4. To say I am thankful for my husband's safe return home from Afghanistan is the understatement of a lifetime. To watch him walk away, knowing he was headed for harm's way on a daily basis, and to have him return home safely to me is more than I could ever ask for.

5. I am so very thankful for the true hope I see in America. I am thankful for the American people who are awake and are standing for our nation's Constitutional foundation. It is going to be a long and hard road, but the elections of 2010 are an incredible start.

6. I am thankful for our Founders. This year I have truly learned from them and have seen their vision and struggle for America, and I have such a deeper appreciation and love for this nation. May we never lose sight of what they set forth.

7. I am more than thankful for my incredible family. I could not ask for more wonderful parents and siblings ~ as well as my lovely sister-in-law and nephew. In a world of broken families, I say without hesitation that God has had His hand on mine and I cannot thank Him enough.

8. I am thankful for my new family! I married into a precious family, gaining two new sisters, a growing number of nephews, and an adorable little niece. I am blessed to have a husband who comes from such a loving and caring family!

9. 8/28: The Restoring Honor Rally. For the rest of my life, I will look back on this day with pride and excitement, for it was such an honor to be a part of. It was the start of a new day and I cannot wait to see what comes from that historic event.

10. Friends. The good Lord has given me the most incredible friends. Though they are not all in this picture (and some of them I have yet to meet in person!), they have blessed me more than words can say. From Army to Air Force wives, to best friends from college, I will forever be thankful for their friendship.
