Airplanes & Water Bottles

We sat on the runway awaiting our turn to hit the skies. The flight attendant gave us our safety instructions and reminded us how to buckle ourselves in. I looked out the window, sleepy from our early morning wake up call. I just wanted to get home and crash on our couch with a good movie. The stranger next to me pulled out a book and I decided I should do so too. Slowly, the plane got underway and began taxing down the runway. A strange noise from under the plane made the stranger and I look at each other with raised eyebrows. I asked Strom what he thought the noise was. Then came the dreaded static-filled noise over the speakers. It was the pilot. We had a problem. My heart sank when he announced a maintenance crew would be arriving shortly. We had only an hour to make our connecting flight in Minneapolis.

90 minutes later, we lifted off into the sky. Our flight landed 5 minutes after our connecting flight took off. We walked off the plane unsure if we would even get home that night. Our flight attendants informed us all close connections had beem rebooked and gave us the location to get our information. Two dozen people took off running, rolling suitcases and carry-on bags swaying back in forth with the hurried motion. Caught behind the eager travelers, I waved Strom ahead with a "Go! Go!" motion. When I caught up with him, he was at the front of the line (that's what I'm talkin' about!).

We received our new tickets and were overjoyed that we had only 2 hours until we'd be homeward bound. We made our way to our gate and killed time. It wasn't until we were about to board that we realized our sweet surprise: We had been given first class tickets. We looked at each other and smiled. What a sweet touch from the Lord!

We boarded the plane, trying to keep it under wraps how excited we were to be sitting in first class. We settled in and found two little water bottles waiting for us. It was such a blessing for we had been so thirsty. The flight attendant then came to us with a basket filled with snacks and fruit for us to choose from - the perks of first class travel! It was such a blessing for we had very little food with us and our stomachs had been growling all morning. We smiled at each other and kicked back, relaxing the next 2 hours away, happy to be homeward bound.

You never know how the Lord will send blessings your way! :)

so true! I love how the Lord blessed you two like that. I'm still reveling in a blessing sent our way yesterday. :) He knows our needs, great or small; He is faithful to fill them!
