I'm the kind of gal that loves to make things special. Traditions and memories are what keep me connected to my family and my roots, and perhaps even keep me grounded. So when our first anniversary quickly approached, I knew we had to make it special, something we'd smile back on in years to come. But where to go? What to do?
I began to think of places in between Virginia and New York (I was second shooting a wedding two days before our anniversary, and was also growing increasingly homesick by the day. Wherever we went, we were going to see my family in New York right after!). And then, the movie Wedding Crashers came to mind. Granted, it's not the cleanest of movies, but it is awfully scenic! One search on imdb told me most of the movie was filmed in St. Michaels, MD. And boom, that's where I wanted to go.
Let me tell you, St. Michael's, MD is about as charming as it gets. Filled with history, amazing restaurants, friendly people and beautiful scenery, it just may be our new favorite place. We enjoyed every second we spent in the quaint little town and we can't wait to go back someday!
We stayed at Adia's Victoriana Inn - a charming little spot right at the harbor's edge. We felt so at home, and even transported back in time at this little place! We absolutely loved it.
Games and movies (and the biggest TV I have ever seen in my life!!) filled the parlor where we kicked back one evening and watched Wedding Crashers - just to see St. Michaels on the big screen!
(I didn't intend a fish face... Lord knows I hate 'em, but with the sun, my "scared" face looked more sorry than threatening...Oh well!)
Like out of a movie... but hats and fluffy dogs! Couldn't have been more perfect!
I couldn't get enough of the old houses in St. Michaels - most of which have been around since the 1700 & 1800's.
Foxy's Bar and Grill - delicious and a great tropical atmosphere! Loved the fish tacos and Cuban cobb salad!
My handsome hubby the model! :)
Right off the deck of our B&B! Such a gorgeous view! (His face screams "stop taking pictures of me!")
Part two coming tomorrow!
